Thirteen foreign divers and five members of Thailand's elite navy SEAL unit are trying to bring the rest of the boys through narrow, submerged passageways that claimed the life of a former Thai navy diver on Friday.
Some of the boys who have been trapped inside a cave in Thailand for almost two weeks are not capable swimmers, and are hurriedly being taught to take on a treacherous dive through narrow, muddy, submerged passageways.
The boat was carrying 105 passengers, including 93 Chinese tourists and 12 Thai crew as well as tourist guides, when it capsized off Thailand's Phuket island. Officials say around 23 others are missing.
Thai officials say the twelve boys and their coach, who were found alive in a water-logged cave, are being supplied with four months' of food. Rescuers are exploring evacuation options.
Rescuers located the 12 boys, aged 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old coach alive deep inside the partially flooded cave in northern Thailand late on Monday. They disappeared when flooding trapped them after entering the cave on June 23.
