Shenzhou-15 was the last of 11 missions that began in April 2021 with an aim to assemble the "Celestial Palace" – the second inhabited outpost in low-earth orbit after the NASA-led International Space Station.
The third and final module is scheduled to dock in October, and Tiangong — which should have a lifespan of at least 10 years — is expected to become fully operational by the end of 2022.
China will launch a spacecraft carrying three astronauts on a scheduled flight to the core module of the unfinished Chinese space station, where they will work and live for six months.
