The defence argued that R. Kelly's accusers were motivated by money to lie about his alleged sexual abuses.
Following jury selection, opening statements and testimony will begin on August 18, and the trial is expected to last at least four weeks.

The federal charges were brought after seven women, including his ex-wife, appeared on a Lifetime network television documentary which aired in January and accused Kelly of emotional and sexual abuse.
R. Kelly was arrested last month and was charged in Brooklyn and Chicago with numerous sexual misconduct felonies.
In indictments unsealed in Brooklyn, New York, and Chicago on Friday, the prosecutors said Kelly, 52, forcibly kept people under his control and then intimidated witnesses and bought their silence.
An indictment says Kelly and his managers picked out women and girls at concerts and arranged for them to travel to see Kelly and call him "Daddy".
The counts include child porn, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice. In February, Kelly was arrested on 10 counts in Illinois involving four women, three of whom were minors when the alleged abuse occurred.
The four aggravated criminal sexual assault counts carry maximum terms of 30 years in prison. Kelly was already facing 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse involving four women years ago, three of whom were minors when the alleged abuse occurred.
The superstar received bitter criticism online after she was quoted in The Times of London as saying that Jackson's accusers were "thrilled to be there" during the alleged abuse, which "didn't kill them."
The latest discovery was announced by lawyer Gloria Allred at a press conference where she told journalists it was found by couple Gary and Sallie Dennis in a box of old VHS cassettes at their home.
