Iran tests long-range, surface-to-surface ballistic missiles, locally manufactured new drones and short-range naval missile as a deterrent against the United States and other adversaries.
The test verified the combat effectiveness of the overall system, and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un predicted "it would be an inescapable distress to the forces becoming a fat target of the weapon", state news agency KCNA said.
Thursday's missile tests were the first since Kim and US President Donald Trump agreed to resume nuclear talks during an impromptu meeting last month in the demilitarised zone between North and South Korea.
The decision by the two allies came after US President Donald Donald Trump's second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ended without any agreement in Hanoi on Thursday.
Tension on the flashpoint peninsula have showed signs of easing in recent months after the isolated, nuclear-armed North proposed summits with the South and their "imperialist enemy" the US.
The drills, scheduled to take place from September 24 to October 10, come at a time of heightened tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.
