About one-third of pregnant women and new mothers who died in 2020 were Black, even though Black Americans make up just over 13 percent of US population, government report says.
Data shows 6.2 million children worldwide died in 2018 before their 15th birthday and that more than 290,000 women died due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth in 2017.
The number of women dying of complications related to pregnancy is higher than any other developed country.
