The blaze, which began on Saturday afternoon outside the village of Arakapas, spread quickly amid strong winds and forced the evacuation of at least eight mountain villages, destroying homes and scorching pine forests and orchards.
Turkey's governing Justice and Development (AK) Party's spokesman, Omer Celik, says "38 of those attacks were carried out against Turkish mosques and Islamic centres."
The hanging of a Byzantine flag over a mosque in Cyprus' Larnaca city was described as a "provocation" by Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay.
