The International Organization for Migration said Libya intercepted over 24,000 migrants in the Mediterranean this year, "but only 6,000 are in detention centers, the fate of others remains unknown".
Aid agencies say more than 110 migrants were missing and scores feared drowned after their overloaded boat sank off the Libyan coast.
A total of 204 people died at sea off Libya this weekend while the total number of migrants who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea so far this year has surpassed 1,000, the UN migration agency says.
