Number of internally displaced people worldwide to hit new record in 2022

A joint report by global monitors expects last year's record high of nearly 59.1 internally displaced people to be broken this year, fuelled by conflicts and the climate crisis.

Conflicts, disasters uprooted over 31 million people in 2016

The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre say political turmoil and climate change-related disasters displace one person every second, with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, Iraq and China the worst affected.
