The number of displaced has increased every year over the past decade — and it is now more than double the 42.7 million people displaced in 2012.
"One hundred million is a stark figure –– sobering and alarming in equal measure. It's a record that should never have been set," says UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.
UN's refugee chief said violence, ill-treatment and pushbacks continued to be regularly reported at multiple entry points at land and sea borders, within and beyond the European Union.
The UN did not specify who carried out the strike but only that the Ethiopian government has air power in the area.
Abdul Matin Rahimzay, the Taliban’s head of refugees and returnees affairs in Kabul, says about 1,005 displaced families from the Shahr-e-Naw Park in downtown Kabul have been relocated in collaboration with different aid agencies.
