The Epilepsy Foundation said the tweets, which contained "flashing or strobing lights," were targeted at the foundation's account and hashtags as they promoted National Epilepsy Awareness Month.
More than 65 million people have epilepsy worldwide. But many of those are not aware of the risk of a sudden death.
Up to 4,100 children have suffered major congenital defects after their mothers took valproate to treat epilepsy. The drug has been prescribed since 1967.
They were being treated at unregistered facilities with no doctors, trained nurses and little equipment to cater to their specialised needs. The government had moved a total of 1,300 patients out of private hospitals to save money.
