The arrest of Ovidio Guzman, son of jailed drug trafficker Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, has sparked deadly violence in Mexico.
Emma Coronel Aispuro, 31, who is a dual citizen of the US and Mexico, was arrested at Dulles International Airport and is expected to appear in federal court in Washington on Tuesday.
The clash involved members of the Sinaloa cartel – pitching part of the gang run by the children of ex-leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman against members led by Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, considered the group's number two, local media reported.

The charges include trafficking tonnes of illegal drugs into the US, and engaging in a criminal enterprise while leading the Sinaloa Cartel. The verdict means Guzman is now facing life in prison.
Prosecutors say Guzman amassed a $14 billion fortune by bribery, murder and smuggling drugs, while his former associates say the drug lord paid millions of dollars in bribes to Mexican officials.
Miguel Angel "El Gordo" Martinez said in the kingpin's New York trial that four attempts on his life took place in Mexican prisons between his arrest in 1998 and his arrival in the United States in 2001.
The trial has started under heavy security. Twelve jurors and six alternates were selected while more than a dozen of the several hundred witnesses expected to testify are in witness protection programs.
