Meanwhile, the US has sent the guided-missile destroyer the USS Milius through contested parts of the South China Sea, drawing anger from China, which said the vessel had "illegally intruded" into its territorial waters.

Four US soldiers were killed in a plane crash in a Norwegian town in the Arctic Circle during a NATO exercise.
The exercises aim "to display the country's military might and readiness to confront our enemies," a spokesperson for the Zolfaqar-1400 drill said.
“Available data suggest that we might have news of discovery at Turkali-1, at least as significant and plentiful as in the Tuna-1 well,” the Turkish president said.
