The 328 to 301 vote, made possible by fellow Conservatives who turned their back on Johnson's pleas, cleared the way for Johnson's opponents to introduce a bill that seeks to prevent Britain from leaving the European Union without a deal October 31.
The new British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that while he did not want an election, he will seek one if rebels in his own Conservative Party join forces with Labour when voting for a bill to prevent the UK from leaving the EU without a deal.
