World number one Ash Barty successfully defended her Miami Open title, beating Canadian Bianca Andreescu 6-3 4-0.
Bianca Andreescu took charge early in the US Open final, going up by a set and two breaks, then held off a late charge by Williams to win 6-3, 7-5 for the championship Saturday night.
Williams will face Canadian Bianca Andreescu for the US Open title as the American sets herself up for another attempt to clinch a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam singles title.
Bianca Andreescu upset three-time major champion Angelique Kerber 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to win the BNP Paribas Open, becoming at age 18 the first wild-card winner in tournament history.
