Syrian regime has approved "a ceasefire in the de-escalation zone in Idlib starting from tonight" on the condition militants and rebels withdraw forces and weaponry from a buffer zone as per a September accord struck in the Russian city of Sochi.
A full-scale regime assault on Syria's last opposition and rebel-held province of Idlib would sabotage the ongoing political process, Turkey's presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said after a cabinet meeting chaired by President Erdogan.
As Turkish, Russian and Iranian foreign ministers hold talks in Astana, they agree that Syria's future must be secured "without outside political interference," and underlined the need for humanitarian access to the areas affected by the conflict.
