Afghan protesters, including those who had worked with the US government and military, plan to continue peaceful protests to call for urgent resettlement, advocates say.
The number of "independent departures," which could top 700, is raising alarms among immigration advocates concerned about the risks to Afghans who give up on the resettlement process.
The protest took place outside the UN Refugee Agency’s office in Jakarta, with many Afghans saying they’re extremely worried about their families back home.
